This event will focus on the implications and ramifications of devices and services based on the principals of the iPhone, Android, Symbian and other (integrated mobile hardware, software and services (eg: location)) platforms.
With the recent release of the iPhone 3G, the upcoming launch of Android and the dominant position of Symbian we are now entering a new phase of the mobile Internet.
Integrated mobile devices, applications and services such as those offered by iPhone, iTunes, AppStore and Apple (Mac) appear to offer consumers what they need - simplicity. On the other hand open platforms not based on propriety technology may also play a significant role moving forwards.
Location, 3G, WiFi, cameras and video are now all standard features on such devices. What new applications & services are emerging, what new products and services can now be created using mashups of these new capabilities ?
What are the strategic and tactical issues that executives, entrepreneurs and investors should make when considering this future.
The implications are massive for all businesses - those that understand and develop strategies to facilitate customer, supplier and employee communications and management using these new tools will win.
iPhone is building the latest, biggest and greatest version of compuserve and AOL. Is following in the steps of the walled gardens the best approach for customers since we (the consumer) have already rejected this model several time in favour of the open internet. Is Apple’s new integrated systems and devices different or is it doomed to fail.
